   Dear friend ,

         The Association of Writers and Illustrators for Children (AWIC) the Indian Section of International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) is organizing International Conference on Children's Libraries – Building a Book Culture from 4-6 February, 2010 in New Delhi, India. AWIC is a voluntary organization dedicated to the development of quality literature and reading promotion.

      The aim of the first ever International Conference on Children's Libraries is to deliberate on the potential and scope of Children's Libraries in strengthening book culture. Reading Books is an important ingredient in the development of the Child's personality. The role of libraries is crucial for creating a climate that encourages reading. Eminent scholars, authors, publishers and all others interested in children and books from many countries will be participating in this event.

    The theme of the Conference will be deliberated under five segments,

-         Developing libraries for children

-         Suitable reading material for Children's Libraries

-         Children's Library Services 

-         Children's Libraries as Catalyst for Social Change

-         Children's Libraries Without Borders

      The highlight of the Conference is the participation of IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award winners from different parts of the world. They will be sharing their experiences and presenting their reading promotion projects which they have successfully organized under difficult circumstances.
